Privacy Policy

This privacy policy applies to the Roamglyph mobile application (the "Application"), provided by Bayajit Mohammed (the "Service Provider"). It explains what information the Application handles, why it is used, and the choices available to you.

Summary

Roamglyph is a local-first route journal. The Service Provider does not operate an account system or server for your routes, annotations, or photos, and does not use advertising or analytics SDKs. Your journal data stays on your device unless you choose to export it. The Application connects to OpenStreetMap to load map tiles, as described below.

Information the Application Handles

The Application may handle the following information on your device:

Permissions

Roamglyph requests precise and background location permissions for route recording. On supported Android versions, it also requests notification permission so it can display the persistent notification required for background recording. Camera or photo-library access is requested only when you choose to attach a photo. You can manage these permissions in your device settings, although disabling a permission may prevent the related feature from working.

Local Storage and Photos

Routes, annotations, preferences, and attached-photo copies are stored in the Application's private storage on your device. When you attach a photo, Roamglyph creates a newly encoded copy with EXIF metadata removed and does not modify the original image. Cached OpenStreetMap tiles are also stored locally and can be cleared from the Application's settings.

Local data remains until you delete it through the Application, clear the Application's data, or uninstall the Application, subject to any backup or restore features provided by your device or operating system.

Exports and Sharing

If you choose to export a session, Roamglyph creates a JSON file and passes it to the Android system share sheet. The export may contain the recorded path, timestamps, session details, markers, written comments, and photo records. It does not include photo image files or device-local photo paths. The destination you select receives the exported data and handles it under its own privacy practices. The Service Provider does not receive a copy.

OpenStreetMap

Roamglyph requests map images from the OpenStreetMap Foundation's tile service when a map area is not available in the local cache or needs to be refreshed. Those requests disclose network and request information to the OpenStreetMap Foundation, including your IP address, application and device information, request time, and the requested tile. A requested tile identifies an area of the map you viewed and may correspond to your current location. Roamglyph does not send your saved routes, annotations, written comments, or photos with these requests.

The OpenStreetMap Foundation handles this information under its own Privacy Policy. Its map tiles may be served through a global network of cache servers.

Information the Service Provider Does Not Collect

The Service Provider does not collect your journal data through Roamglyph, does not require an account, and does not use the Application to sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. The Application does not include third-party advertising, analytics, or crash reporting SDKs.

Your Choices and Rights

You control the journal data stored by the Application. You can delete sessions and annotations in Roamglyph, clear cached map tiles in settings, revoke permissions in device settings, or remove local Application data by clearing its data or uninstalling it. Once you share an export, you must manage that copy with the destination you selected.

Depending on where you live, you may also have legal rights concerning personal information held by the Service Provider, such as rights to access, correct, or delete it. Because Roamglyph does not transmit your journal to the Service Provider, the Service Provider generally cannot access or delete that local data for you. For privacy requests concerning information you send directly to the Service Provider, use the contact details below.

Children's Privacy

The Application is not directed to children under 13, and the Service Provider does not knowingly collect personal information from children through the Application. If you believe a child has sent personal information directly to the Service Provider, please use the contact details below.

Security

Roamglyph uses private Application storage intended to keep its files separate from other applications. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed. Protect your device and review the destination carefully before sharing an export.

Changes to This Policy

The Service Provider may update this policy to reflect changes to the Application or legal requirements. The updated policy will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.

This privacy policy is effective as of 2026-09-29.
